Jane Gilbert served as the City of Miami’s first Chief Resilience Officer (CRO) for four years.  She is now consulting with public and private institutions and entrepreneurs focused on economic inclusion and climate action.  As CRO, Ms. Gilbert led the climate resilience strategy development and implementation for the City of Miami, and, in partnership with Miami-Dade County and City of Miami Beach, for Greater Miami and the Beaches.

Prior to joining the City, Ms. Gilbert managed The Miami Foundation’s civic leadership agenda on sea level rise, Wells Fargo’s philanthropy and community affairs in South Florida and served as the Executive Director for 3 nonprofits, Dream in Green, Arts for Learning/Miami and ArtCenter/South Florida.  Ms. Gilbert holds a BA in Environmental Science from Barnard College and MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

After 4 years of developing, financing and implementing strategies for local climate resilience in one of the most vulnerable cities in the world to the impacts of climate change, I am eager to focus on building bi-partisan support for robust climate policy at the national level.  I have a strong track record for public engagement, building public trust and diverse stakeholder support for robust, equitable climate policy and action.   I thrive on engaging with diverse audiences with strong cross sector networks in Florida and connections to peers across cities nationally and internationally.

Over the last couple of months, I have been immersing myself in the state of regional, national and international climate policy efforts, speaking with peers in the academic, NGO and corporate sectors to understand the barriers of public perception and corporate influence and opportunities for building a unifying narrative for economic and environmental recovery and opportunity.
